You can't take the sky from me

I can't say enough about Battlestar Galatica, but I can't believe I snoozed through what I believe is an even better Sci-Fi show. If you recognized the title, then you know I'm talking about Firefly. The short lived series on fox, that provoked outrage from it's loyal fans when it was cancelled, which in turned helped the summer movie release of Serenity.

I say snoozed because I have become a huge loyal fan after dismissing the original series premier (The Train Job). I then watched the movie Serenity and loved it. A co-worker suggested I watch the DVD collection. I was then treated to what was the intended premier opener AND I WAS HOOKED! Why the big wigs went with The Train Job first is a perfect example of those with no clue over riding the people that bring these shows to life. So I have purchased the DVD collection and highly recommend it as a must see.

If your already a fan, you must visit Jim Palmer's site to buy great looking art print of all your favorites. Truly a geeks paradise.

Still not getting it? Well Orson Scott does an excellent write up here.

For me, it's the writing. No aliens, no warp engines, no tele-porters, just characters that I care about with space and grit solution to problems. Some call it a Sci-Fi Western, but that works for me as well.

Hands down, the best Sci Fi show ever. I hope that the movie success leads to another series.

Agreed...but based on the numbers, which the big wigs look at, it's going to be close.

I suspect the DVD season 2002 collection and the DVD movie release are the only hope to resurrect this great show.

I just bought them both together as Amazon gives a decent discount, and qualifies for a 3 month trial for free 2 day shipping. However, the Serenity DVD won't ship until the Dec 20th. But that gives you all this time to catch up on the series!!! Make sure to watch it with the sub titles on, I've been learning all kind of Chinese cuss words. I suspect that will come in handy soon when the Great Central Chinese Bank repossesses my house.
